Guidelines for a Safe and Enjoyable Manimahesh Pilgrimage
Here are some Do’s during the Manimahesh PIlgrimage:
- Get a medical certificate and health check-up done at Base Camp Hudsar before you start your journey.
- Do not travel if you are pregnant or have any health problems.
- Take breaks if you feel breathless.
- Bring umbrella, raincoat, warm clothes, warm shoes, torch and stick with you.
- Wear shoes instead of slippers during the journey.
- Follow the routes prescribed by the administration.
- Contact the nearest camp if you have any health problems.
- Keep the area clean.
- Help in the conservation of rare herbs and other plants.
- Donate only in the donation containers of the trust.
- Follow all COVID-19 protocols, including wearing a mask and using sanitizer.
- Carry your identity card with you at all time
Here are some things you should not do during the Manimahesh Pilgrimage
- Do not travel from Base Camp Hudsar before 4:00 AM or after 4:00 PM.
- Do not travel alone, travel with companions. Do not climb up forcefully and do not wear slippery shoes.
- Do not litter or throw garbage anywhere along the route or at Manimahesh Lake. Bring your trash with you and dispose of it properly.
- Do not tamper with herbs and rare plants.
- Do not consume any kind of intoxicants, meat, alcohol, etc. This is a religious journey, so please respect its sanctity.
- Do not treat this journey as a picnic or fun. Instead, approach it with devotion and faith.
- Do not throw garbage, wet clothes, or your lingerie after bathing around the Holy Manimahesh Dal Lake. Use the designated bins nearby.
- Do not take any shortcuts.
- Do not use plastic.
- Do not do anything that would pollute the environment or harm it in any way.
- If the weather is bad during your journey, stop at a safe place between Hadsar and Dal Lake, such as Dhancho, Sundarasi, Gaurikund, or Dal Lake. Only start your journey again when the weather is favorable.
